Focus Punjab

Picture
Focus Punjab is a dedicated website for all the projects of Khalsa Aid in Panjab.Since the launch of Khalsa Aid in 1999 the Sikh community has been extremely generous in providing funds to assist the most needy in disasters around the globe. We are very proud and honoured to belong a community which has suffered  immense persecution and hardship since the time of Guru Nanak and yet still empty their pockets to anyone who needs assistance, regardless of race, religion, caste.

It was felt by Khalsa Aid that the Sikh Diaspora want to be involved in Punjab to tackle various social issues ( Drugs epidemic, poverty, female feticide etc ) which are effecting their own villages and extended families. Our aim is  to empower the local organisations in Punjab to educate the next generation of children to the dangers of drugs addiction etc and to finanically assist the most underprivileged to archive higher education.

Khalsa Aid

Established in 1999, Khalsa Aid is an international non-profit aid and relief organization founded on the Sikh principles of selfless service and universal love. Khalsa Aid is a UK Registered Charity (#1080374) with the UK Charities Commission and also has volunteers in North America & Asia. Khalsa Aid has provided relief assistance to victims of disasters, wars, and other tragic events around the world.

Supporting the Families of the Shaheeds

Picture
Khalsa Aid launched the Shaheed Parivaar Aid in January 2011 and today KA are finacially supporting over 100 families and this number is rising every week. These are the mothers, fathers, wives and children of the Shaheeds who have neglected from the late-90s onwards. Khalsa Aid is also re-building the houses for some of the worst cases of neglect.

The sight of a mother of a Shaheed living in a run down house with no electric, water and living on hand-outs from her neighbors is a constant reminder how the Panth has filed them. These folks are ridden with sickness through a life of poor diet and total neglect of medical attention and now they are dying in poverty.

These children are sponsored by Khalsa Aid, they are encouraged to attend school and also Gurbani classes twice a week. The children come from very underprivileged backgrounds and areas of severe depravation. There is ever present threat of the children being lured into the dark world of drugs and amphetamines by individual dealers and various cults. Read More

Forgotten heroes of the Khalsa Panth

Picture
These Singhs gave up everything for the Panth in 1984. They were in the Indian military when they heard of the attack on Darbar Sahib in June 1984. They, defied their Indian masters and marched towards Amritsar to support their besieged fellow Sikhs. Most of these 'Dharmi Faujis' were slaughtered along the way and the remaining were imprisoned.

The Indian government stripped them off their rights. These Singhs who did not think twice about serving the Panth are now living in dire poverty and their families have suffered immense trauma.

Khalsa Aid is setting up a long term aid programme for these Singhs. More Videos

Sikhs Forced to Convert due to Poverty and Lack of Support from Sikh Community

Picture
Ravinder Singh from Khalsa Aid interviewing Shinda Singh, once proud and devout Sikh who was forced due to personal medical and financial reasons to convert into Christianity seven years ago. Although an active member in his community who could always be relied on for support, when he fell on hard times no Gurduwara Committee, organisation etc came to his aid. As now prevalent across Punjab Christian missionaries saw the lack of support from Shinda Singhs Sikh community as an opportunity for conversion, offering him medical and food provisions to become a Christian.

Please Support Khalsa Aid which has launched a huge project earlier this year in Punjab to tackle issues of poverty, drugs and literacy; sponsoring the education of Sikh children and supporting their family (food and medical), giving the Punjabi people an alternatve than to give up their faith.
